As part of a pilot project that has international support, the Regional office of Culture of Cusco working on the rehabilitation of four colonial large houses of the Historical Center in the city of the Cusco.
Juan Julio Rivas, director of the institution, explained that the homes are in streets like Procuradores, Alca, Tullumayo and Santiago.
The work has as objective protect residential use and the new archaeological findings in this sector of the city, because they are colonial houses with Inca foundations .
With the rehabilitation the collapse will be avoided before intense rain situations.
In this initiative, the Spanish Agency for International Development (AECI) contributes 300 thousand euros, also provides the property owner and works the Workshop School of the Regional Office of Culture.
This will be the start of new projects of the same nature that will allow us to have a more widespread restoration.
The city of Cusco, old capital of the Incas Empire, was declared cultural Patrimony of the Humanity by Unesco in 1983 and it constitutes one of more important tourist destinations and historical of the country.
It lodges buildings of incaica construction, like Koricancha and the Palace of Inca Roca, besides colonial constructions of Andean baroque style, like the cathedral and the church of the Company.
